National Weather Service –
A flood watch is in effect for the entire region from this afternoon through late Saturday night as multiple rounds of storms move through the area.
Forecasters say repeated storms over the same locations could lead to flash flooding this weekend, with some spots possibly seeing 3 to 5 inches of rain. Because the ground is already saturated, heavy downpours could cause water to rise quickly and create dangerous runoff.
A few strong to severe storms are also possible late this afternoon into the overnight hours, with wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. Saturated soil may also make it easier for trees to be uprooted and fall.
